Ending your membership
You can end your membership in IAET-kassa by filling in a resignation notice. If you end your membership in the middle of the year, we will refund the remaining months into your bank account. Your end date will be the day on which you inform us that you want to end your membership or a later date specified by you.
NB! The membership fee will have to be paid until the end of resignation month. Not paying your membership fee does not constitute resigning from the fund.
IAET-kassa is not automatically informed if, for example, you retire , and you must let us know that you want to end your membership yourself. Your membership will end automatically at the end of the month you turn 68.
If you are moving abroad, check whether you should continue being a member.
You can only switch between unemployment funds while you are working. In other words, you cannot switch unemployment funds when you are, for example , unemployed, on child care leave or on study leave.
If you switch funds within a month, you keep any employment and membership condition credits you have accrued through your previous fund. If the transition takes longer than a month, you will need to accrue new employment and membership conditions.
What should I do?
The first thing you should do is send a membership application to the new fund you want to join. Once your new membership has been confirmed, you should notify your previous unemployment fund that you want to end your membership.
When you join IAET-kassa, you can authorise IAET-kassa to end your previous unemployment fund membership on your behalf by filling in our resignation authorisation form. If you want to end your membership in your trade union, you need to contact your union yourself.
If you switch from IAET-kassa to another unemployment fund in the middle of the year, your IAET-kassa membership fee for the rest of the year can be refunded. You need to send us a written request for the refund through the Contact us function and give us your bank account details. You need to request your refund within three months of ending your membership in IAET-kassa. If you were a member through your trade union, you can ask your union for the refund.
Expulsion from the fund
Your IAET-kassa membership can be terminated if you fail to pay your membership fee. Your termination will enter into force as of the beginning of the year when you miss a payment.
Full-time entrepreneurs can be members of a salaried employees’ unemployment fund for 18 months after starting their business. Your membership in IAET-kassa can be terminated if you continue to run a business for more than 18 months.
You will be given an opportunity to explain your circumstances before your membership is terminated. Termination decisions can be appealed.
The termination of your IAET-kassa membership may result in the recovery of your daily allowances.
